| Vioxx
(Rofecoxib) is a painkiller that is used by two million
people
around the world as a treatment for signs and symptoms
of osteoarthritis, acute pain in adults, and painful
menstrual cycles.
A recent government study financed by the FDA has shown
that Vioxx increases the chances of a heart attack and
death. The study found that Vioxx doses of more than
25 mg a day more than triple the risk compared with
patients who hadn't taken painkillers within the past
two months. The principals of this study have stated
that "this and other studies cast serious doubt
on the safety of Vioxx."
If you or someone you know has experienced a
heart attack,
kidney failure, liver failure, stroke, incapacitation,
or death
from taking Vioxx, you may have a legal claim.
On September 29, 2004 Merck, Sharp & Dohme announced
they are
finally pulling their 2.5 billion dollar drug off the
market as these studies confirmed long-standing concerns
that Vioxx raises the risk of heart attack and stroke.
If you experience any side effects, stop taking Vioxx
and seek medical treatment or contact your doctor immediately.
